GreatNight Launches "Plans," Turning Atlanta's Event Discovery App Into a Tool for Getting Friends Out the Door

New release adds shareable group itineraries, in-venue social discovery, and a rewards program redeemable for real drinks and cover at local venues

Friends gathering for a night out in Atlanta

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ATLANTA — September 18, 2026 — GreatNight, the Atlanta-based social app for discovering what's happening tonight, today announced a major release that expands the app from finding events to organizing friends around them. The centerpiece is Plans, a shareable itinerary feature that lets users build a night or weekend from real events, invite friends, and coordinate in one place, with a points program that rewards the behavior with perks at participating venues.

The release addresses a familiar problem: a flyer lands in the group chat, a few people react, and nobody decides. GreatNight's Plans start from any event in the app and grow into a full itinerary, such as dinner Friday, a club Saturday, and brunch Sunday, that friends can join with a single link.

"We were already good at showing people what was happening in the city," said Ray Abram, founder and CEO of GreatNight. "The harder problem was the last mile — getting the people you like to actually commit and show up. Plans is built for that. Send the plan, not the flyer."

Group coordination without a single planner

Plans support cohosts, so the person who starts a plan is not the bottleneck. Friends can propose additions through a suggestion inbox that the host approves with a tap, and a plan chat opens automatically once two or more people join. A "My Weekend" view consolidates every plan and solo RSVP into one agenda and flags scheduling conflicts before they happen.

Plans can be set to private, followers-only, or public. Public plans appear in GreatNight's Discover tab, where other users can request to join, giving people new to Atlanta a low-pressure way to meet others who already want to do the same thing. A curator program surfaces plans from vetted regulars with a "curated" badge and priority placement.

After a night ends, a recap feature produces a hero photo, stats, and a one-line "favorite moment" from each attendee. A "Run It Back" button clones any past plan into a new one for recurring groups.

Social features that work in the room

The release also deepens what GreatNight does once users arrive. QR check-in at events unlocks a "Who's Here" screen showing who else is present, shared connections, and first-time attendees. Two people can connect by scanning each other's personal codes in person. A "Ping" feature lets users ask friends "you down for this tonight?" and receive a simple Down or Not Tonight reply.

GreatNight shows presence only. The app never displays anyone's live location.

Points redeemable at the bar

Users earn points for posting photos and video, connecting in person, checking in at plan stops, and starting, sharing, or growing a plan. Points move users through five tiers, Bronze through Diamond, unlocking early access, featured listings, and VIP invitations. Points are also redeemable for venue perks, including drink tickets, waived cover, and gift cards, through an in-app wallet and a staff-confirmed redemption code. There is no public leaderboard, and points never expire.

Availability

GreatNight is free on iOS and Android. Users can browse the home feed, map, and live events without creating an account; sign-in is required only to RSVP, join a plan, or post. The company reports that users who join a Plan are its most engaged by a wide margin.
